Tattoo care

Successful healing lies in the extreme attention paid in the first 3 days, corresponding to the first healing phase: the injured skin begins a healing process including an inflammatory phase, redness around the tattoo which allows exudation and coagulation to defend the wound against infection.

First 24 hours:

  • Remove the dressing after 2 hours, max 3 hours.

  • Wash your hands well with soap before touching your new tattoo.

  • Once the bandage is removed, wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a Ph-neutral soap. Gently remove any existing Vaseline, ink, exudate, or even a little blood.

  • Gently pat it dry with a clean, new paper towel, avoid a towel or toilet paper.

D+8h: without cream, the exudate acts as a barrier and is relatively watertight. The skin tissue will retain a maximum amount of ink, and therefore color.

After the tattoo becomes dry:

  • Wash the tattoo twice a day (morning and evening) with a Ph-neutral soap until your tattoo is completely healed. (about 2–3 weeks)

  • Apply a thin layer (essential!) of the healing cream and massage well.

  • Wear loose clothing over the area.

Regarding hydration:

  • In principle, with the exception of very dry areas (ankles, calves, wrists, joints), hydration is not mandatory but recommended.
  • For moisturizers, We recommend creams approved by ANSM (Agence nationale de sécurité du médicament et des produits de santé): Easy Tattoo, Tattoo Derm.

We don't recommend second skins, but they can protect your tattoo from dirty environments. We use this product if you have to stay in a dirty place for more than 4 hours after your tattoo session, for example on a train, plane, etc. You can remove it as soon as you get home.

Medical studies on the principle of moist wound healing demonstrate the beneficial effect of maintaining a controlled moist environment to combat the drying out of the wound. This moist environment will be sufficient with the application of the healing cream, rather than the application of this film which keeps the tattoo in an environment that is too humid. The quantity of exudate is important, as an excessive amount increases the risks of maceration and infection, healing delay, and possible enlargement of the wound.

  • Delayed healing

  • Increased risk of infection

  • Ink rejection

  • Do not apply Vaseline, Bepanthen, homéoplasmine (too greasy, the skin cannot breathe and rejects ink), or natural oil: Fresh tattoo is a scar with ink, we do not put natural oils on a scar.

  • No sport for at least a week.

  • One should not overstretch a tattooed place – caution in sports and other physical activities.

  • Avoid using too much cream. The skin will soften, and the ink may smudge under the epidermis.

  • Do not wear woolen or nylon clothing to the area.

  • Avoid bathing/swimming and taking showers that are too long. The sauna and ham mam should not be used for.

  • Avoid contact with dirt and oil.

  • Pet hair or accessories can cause infection.

  • Itching is part of the healing, don't scratch, or it will potentially damage the pigments.
